Nearly 8,000 members of the Police, Police Special Task Force, and the Tri-Forces will be deployed for the security of the historical Kandy Esala Procession, Police Headquarters stated.
Issuing a statement, the Police Media Division mentioned that, accordingly, 6,200 police officers, 564 Police Special Task Force officers, 1,200 Tri-Forces members, as well as 29 Civil Defence officers are scheduled to be deployed.
Additionally, the assistance of police sniffer dogs will also be obtained for the security of the procession.
Meanwhile, during the period when the procession takes place, roadblocks will operate at 14 locations, and 13 parking areas will also be established.
