Police arrested an individual alongside ice drugs and obtained a seven-day detention order, following instructions from alleged organised criminal and drug trafficker Kos Malli to plan the targeting of prison officers.
The arrested individual is a 30-year-old resident of the Borella - Vanatha area.
Police stated that he came out on bail two days before the clash occurred at the New Magazine Prison.
It is also reported that the arrested suspect acted as the motorcyclist in the double shooting carried out on Watarappala Road in Dehiwala last year.
It was revealed that Mohamed Asman Sheriffdeen, who died during the clash that occurred at the New Magazine Prison on the 6th, was the alleged gunman for Kos Malli.
As revenge for that incident, Kos Malli instructed the suspect currently in custody to locate the houses of prison officers and inform him about them.
Accordingly, the suspect sent information via WhatsApp to Kos Malli regarding a prison officer residing in the Panadura area.
