Several spells of rain is expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western Provinces, as well as in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara Districts, the Department of Meteorology forecasts.
Rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva Province and in Ampara and Batticaloa Districts after 2 p.m., the department said.
Fairly strong winds of about 30 to 40 kmph blowing at times can occur in Northern, North Central, North Western, and Southern Provinces, and in Trincomalee District.
The department requests the public to take necessary steps to minimise risks caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that can occur with thundershowers.
