Sri Lanka holds world's most favourable view of India

A latest survey conducted by the Pew Research Centre revealed that Sri Lanka holds the most favourable view of India anywhere in the world, rated at 79 percent.

"Ratings of India diverge dramatically among its neighbouring countries, ranging from 79 percent favourable in Sri Lanka to seven percent favourable in Pakistan" the Pew Research Survey review stated on its official website.

The survey was conducted from February 8 to May 13, among adults across 36 countries for the assessment.

The survey stated:
"In addition to Sri Lanka, opinions are most favourable in Kenya and the United Kingdom, where around seven-in-ten adults view India favourably. Majorities in Germany, Israel, Italy, Sweden, Japan and Thailand also express a favourable view.
Ratings are much lower in Turkey (15% favourable) and in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (18%). In both places, majorities have an unfavourable opinion of India."

Across the 36 countries surveyed, a median of 45 percent expressed a favourable view of India, compared with 41 per cent who held an unfavourable opinion.

The findings point out a broader international recognition of India's growing presence and importance across economic, diplomatic, and strategic spheres exists.

Global public sentiment indicates that despite differences in perceptions across regions, India retains a slight overall advantage.

Favourable views outweigh negative ones in several European countries, making it a particularly positive region for India. In parts of Latin America, opinions remain less clearly defined, with significant shares of respondents choosing not to express a view.
