The shooting in Huludagoda road in Mount Lavinia yesterday is suspected to have been carried out alleged organised criminal and drug trafficker Sando, Police informed.
The shooting carried out at around 9.55 p.m. yesterday by two individuals arriving on a scooter-type motorcycle killed a 40-year-old person, identified as a resident in Ragama.
However, the target of this shooting was the owner of a vehicle repair garage in the Mount Lavinia area, but the person shot and deceased was his friend, police explained.
Sandun Ravindra, the owner of the vehicle repair garage, is has been identified as a money collector for a person known as 'ID', an alleged drug trafficker working for another alleged organised criminal 'Kos Malli'.
The friend of Sandun, Shehan Shehendra, arrived at the garage on a motorcycle, and police stated that the gunshot attack was directed at him at that moment.
Two gunshots were directed at his head and one gunshot at his mouth. The Police said he had died on the spot.
Several charges also exist against the deceased individual on drug possession.
The owner Sandun Ravindra is being taken to the Mount Lavinia Police for questioning.
The shooting was carried out using a revolver-type firearm.
Along with this shooting, the number of organised shooting incidents occurring so far this year rises to 29, and 19 individuals died while 11 individuals suffered injuries from those incidents.
