Individual accused of forming two gangs arrested

A suspect was arrested with drugs and sharp weapons during a special raid conducted yesterday (15) based on confidential information received by officers of the Special Task Force Trincomalee camp.

The raid was conducted at a house located at Madumei Street, Devanagar, Puliyamkulama, Trincomalee in the Uppuveli police division. The raid found 11 grams of drugs, a sword, and a sharp weapon prepared by attaching an iron-toothed wheel to an iron pipe, in the possession of the suspect, the Police Special Task Force informed.

An individual aged 38 residing in Devanagar, Puliyamkulama, Trincomalee was arrested.

During preliminary investigations, it was revealed that he has established two criminal gangs named 'Kutti Puli' and 'Vijay Team' operating in Devanagar, the Police Special Task Force mentioned. Acting as the leader of both gangs, he had been engaged in intimidating local residents and various other crimes, police said.

The arrested suspect and seized items were handed over to the Uppuveli Police Station for further investigations and forward legal action.
