Sri Lanka prepares to tap into growing global demand for skilled aviation personnel as the international aviation industry expands significantly over the next decade, creating a worldwide shortage of qualified workers, according to deputy civil aviation minister Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku.
Countries globally gear up to meet expected workforce demands as the sector enters a major boom period, noting that international interest centers on preparing educational programs to address the anticipated shortage while local authorities implement measures to expand training opportunities and encourage aviation careers.
Plans progress toward establishing a regional aviation education and training center in Sri Lanka with backing from the International Civil Aviation Organisation, following positive discussions where the global body expressed willingness to support the initiative.
Government allocation secures 600 million rupees in the budget following approval from the national planning department, alongside efforts to acquire international accreditation ensuring operations align with global aviation training standards.
