Former Minister Professor G.L. Peiris has filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking a determination on whether the bill titled the "22nd Amendment to the Constitution" or any of its provisions are inconsistent with the Constitution.
The petition, filed today (18), seeks a determination of the Supreme Court in terms of Article 121 read with Article 120 of the Constitution.
The Attorney General has been named as the respondent, while attorneys-at-law Nalin Mario Alwis, Dinusha Shamila Prematilake, and Isuru Sameera Jayasuriya are appearing on behalf of the petitioner, Professor G.L. Peiris.
