Several liquor shops in the Kandy area have been closed starting yesterday in parallel with the historic Kandy Sri Dalada Maligawa Esala Perahera festival, according to the Department of Excise.
The establishments will remain closed for ten days until the twenty-eighth of this month.
Orders have been issued to shut down all licensed liquor outlets located within the Divisional Secretariat divisions of Kandy Gravets and Gangawata Korale.
In addition, all licensed liquor locations in the Kundasale Divisional Secretariat division up to the filling station along the Nattarandpota main road will also be closed.
