Growers are urged to pay attention to a ginger rhizome rot disease spreading due to the current adverse weather conditions, according to the Department of Export Agriculture.
Director General Damayanthi Samarasinghe stated that ginger, currently cultivated as a commercial crop, spans over 2,000 hectares across several areas including Kurunegala, Kandy, Matale, and Ampara.
She also advised cultivators to burn and destroy any plant clumps already affected by the disease.
