Colombo Chief Magistrate orders IDH Sudda case recalled for October 5

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S Bodaragama ordered today (24) that a case filed against Samantha Kumara Perera, alias 'IDH Sudda', alleged to be a powerful underworld operative, be recalled on October 5.


The suspect was produced in court by the Boossa Prison when the relevant case was called.


The suspect gave evidence in the witness box when the case was called.


This case, filed by the Cinnamon Gardens Police against three individuals including the suspect under several charges including daytime housebreaking, possession of a pistol, and theft of 12 bullets and a magazine, was called in this manner.


Submitting facts on behalf of the prosecution, the Cinnamon Gardens Police informed the court that the prosecution evidence is concluded.


Submitting facts on behalf of the defence, lawyer Susanna Kumara stated that the suspects would enter the witness box and make a statement, and requested permission during the previous court date by filing a motion to call witnesses if required.


The Magistrate ordered the case regarding the incident to be recalled on October 10 for further trial.


Samantha Kumara Perera, alias 'IDH Sudda', alleged to be a powerful underworld operative who was convicted of charges of possessing and trafficking ice and heroin drugs, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Colombo High Court, and the suspect was produced in court by the prison under special security.
