Sri Lanka Air Force establishes new CCTV operations room at Pettah bus station

The Sri Lanka Air Force states that a 'New Air Force CCTV Monitoring Operations Room' was established at the Pettah bus station with the objective of ensuring the safety and security of the public.

The Sri Lanka Air Force mentions that the CCTV monitoring system in this new operations room, established at the Pettah bus station, was modernised under the 'Clean Sri Lanka' project and functions 24 hours a day.

The SLAF states that through this new system, Air Force personnel were able yesterday (23) to immediately arrest a suspect who stole a passenger's bag at the Pettah bus station.

 The Air Force mentions that while the theft committed by this individual was being monitored through the CCTV camera system of this operations room, Sri Lanka Air Force personnel on duty acted immediately, identified the suspect, and handed him over to the Sri Lanka Police.

It stated that in addition to identifying thefts of passengers' belongings, providing prompt responses during situations such as a passenger falling ill, meeting with a mishap, or experiencing another emergency is also carried out by this new operations room.

It is reported that this new monitoring system, introduced with the objective of creating a safer public transport environment for the public, will continue to function as an important step taken to further strengthen the security of public places.
