Third Randoli procession to parade tonight

Third Randoli Perahera of the historic Kandy Esala Perahera scheduled to parade the streets this evening

The third Randoli Procession glorifying the Esala Festival of the historic Kandy Temple of the Tooth Relic is scheduled to parade the streets this afternoon.

The second Randoli Perahera of the procession paraded the streets in a colourful manner yesterday, and the fortune of carrying the sacred casket of the second Randoli procession belonged to the Sinharaja elephant.

The Sinharaja elephant claimed the fortune of carrying the casket of the second Randoli procession this time, while Miyan Raja and Pulasthi Raja travelled as the companion tuskers.

The second Randoli, made colourful with numerous local dance items, paraded the streets of the historic Kandy city, filling the hearts of thousands of people gathered on both sides of the road with respect and devotion.

The third Randoli procession of the Dalada festival is scheduled to begin parading the streets at the auspicious moment falling at 6:53 PM today.

A large crowd arrived in Kandy city with great enthusiasm from this morning to watch the procession.

Meanwhile, a diplomatic delegation consisting of 19 members, including foreign ambassadors and high commissioners carrying out diplomatic affairs for Sri Lanka based in New Delhi, India, is scheduled to arrive in the country to watch this year's Kandy Esala procession.

The Sri Lanka High Commission in India announced that this delegation, scheduled to arrive on the island tomorrow, is set to watch the final Randoli procession held on the 27th.
