Two more petitions supporting 22nd Amendment filed in Supreme Court

Two more intervening petitions were filed in the Supreme Court supporting the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill presented to Parliament by the government, requesting a ruling that it was presented legally and can be passed without a referendum.

The petitions were filed by Sarath Manamendra, leader of the Nava Sihala Urumaya, and K. Sarath Lal Perera, General Secretary of the National Organisation for the Protection of Retirees' Rights.
