A protest was held in front of the Galle Town Hall this afternoon (30), demanding a referendum to pass the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.
People who attended the Galle District conference of the People's Joint Opposition participated in the demonstration.
United National Party (UNP) Chairman Vajira Abeywardena, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) National Organiser Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, UNP National Organiser Sagala Ratnayaka, and former Member of Parliament Saman Rathnapriya were among those who joined the protest.
The group engaged in the peaceful demonstration for nearly half an hour.
