A complaint has been lodged with the Kirinda Police Station regarding the disappearance of a police sergeant attached to the station.
Police stated that the missing officer has been identified as 43-year-old Alahakoon Arachchilage Manoj Lakmal Alahakoon.
According to police details, while serving at the Tissamaharama Assistant Superintendent of Police’s Office, he had proceeded to the Tangalle Police Station following duty on August 20 in accordance with a temporary transfer order.
Having served at the Tangalle Headquarters Police Station on August 21, he subsequently reported back to the Kirinda Police Station.
On the morning of August 22, he logged a departure entry at the Kirinda Police Station and left for duty at the Tissamaharama Assistant Superintendent of Police Office.
However, the complaint states that he left his residence early on the morning of 23 August, leaving behind his mobile phone and SIM card.
The complainant informed the police that no information regarding him has been found since then.
Kirinda Police have commenced further investigations into the incident.
