A school student died following a road incident near Samurdhi Mawatha on the Biyagama - Sapugaskanda road yesterday (29), according to the Sapugaskanda Police.
Police stated that the incident occurred when a cab travelling towards Sapugaskanda lost control, veered off the road, and struck two children walking along the sandy strip on the left side of the road.
Both children, who sustained severe injuries, were admitted to the Kiribathgoda Hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries.
The other injured child has been transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased has been identified as a 15-year-old school student residing in the Gonawala area.
The driver of the cab has been arrested in connection with the crash, and the Sapugaskanda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
