Kurunegala District Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara requested a written explanation from the Speaker regarding actions taken or to be taken at the parliamentary level concerning allegations made by MPs against Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.
The MP made this request by directing a letter to the Speaker, in which Dayasiri Jayasekara points out several matters raised by several MPs in the chamber regarding the Chief Justice.
The MP emphasises that he does not arrive at a prior conclusion that any of the allegations mentioned in the letter are true, and considers them only as questions raised in Parliament.
The MP further states through the relevant letter that if the allegations are true, an independent investigation should be conducted, and if false, the true situation should be revealed to protect the reputation of the Chief Justice.
