Calculations conducted so far reveal that the haul of suspected "ICE" discovered inside a container at the Colombo Port exceeds 463 kilograms in weight.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Ashoka Dharmasena from the Police Narcotic Bureau stated that the consignment holds a market value exceeding Rs. 8 billion.
Police took steps to report facts to the court on the 17th following information received by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau regarding two suspicious containers at the CICT terminal of the Colombo Port.
Accordingly, officers opened these containers today (31) and discovered the inventory meticulously packed inside, with further revelations indicating that the drug shipment originated from Pakistan.
A 44-year-old businessman residing in the Dematagoda area was also taken into custody in connection with the incident.
