Favourable atmospheric conditions are developing to produce afternoon thundershowers in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces over the coming days, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Several spells of rain may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
A few locations in the Eastern and Uva provinces and the Mullaitivu district may experience showers or thundershowers after 2:00 PM.
Intermittent strong winds of about 30 to 40 kilometres per hour can be expected over the western slopes of the central hills, the North-Central and North-Western provinces, and the Hambantota and Matale districts, while the department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimise dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
