Two young men have tragically drowned while bathing in a river near the Glassaugh Falls area in Nanu Oya, Nuwara Eliya.
The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Perumal Divakar, a resident of Nanu Oya, and 23-year-old Anbalagan Nikshan, a resident of Haputale.
According to reports, the two men had gone to bathe in the river near Glassaugh Falls in Nanu Oya, where water flowing from Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya joins the Kotmale Oya.
They reportedly encountered difficulties while in the water and subsequently drowned.
The bodies are scheduled to be taken to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Further details regarding the incident are expected to emerge as investigations continue.
