Cincinnati-D.C. United match postponed due to inclement weather

An MLS match between visiting D.C. United and FC ​Cincinnati was postponed on ‌Saturday night because of inclement weather.

After a lightning delay ​of more than 2 ​hours and 45 minutes, the ⁠match was called off, ​with the following message ​flashed on the scoreboard.

"Tonight's match has been postponed due to pitch ​conditions and resulting player ​safety concerns created by inclement weather ‌in ⁠the Cincinnati area. The match will be played at a later date."

Both teams ​are ​scheduled ⁠to play twice next week-on Wednesday and ​Saturday night.

This was to ​be ⁠the first of two matches between the clubs ⁠this ​season. They are ​also scheduled to play on Oct. ​24 in Washington.
