The Disaster Management Centre is currently distributing drinking water to 113,354 people across 35 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in seven districts severely affected by prevailing dry weather conditions.
The Monaragala District remains the worst impacted, with emergency water distribution steps taken for 41,360 individuals from 12,732 families across eight Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
In addition, relief measures have reached 33,394 people from 11,142 families in the Batticaloa District and 20,418 people from 5,435 families in the Badulla District.
According to the Disaster Management Centre, the ongoing dry spell has affected a total of 115,534 people from 35,149 families across the country, with the Ampara, Anuradhapura, Badulla, Batticaloa, Monaragala, Polonnaruwa, and Ratnapura districts experiencing the brunt of the dry spell.
