SLPP vows to proceed with Anuradhapura rally

A special meeting of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna political activists was held at a private hotel in Maradana, Colombo, today under the chairmanship of Party General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam.

Following the meeting, party leaders including Parliamentarians D. V. Chanaka, Thenuka Vidanagamage, Indika Anuruddha, and Janaka Wakkumbura addressed the media, affirming that the party's public rally scheduled for the 12th of this month in Anuradhapura will proceed despite any obstacles.

The representatives condemned the arrest of Namal Rajapaksa as an act of political revenge, alleging that the government is taking measures to suppress the Rajapaksa family because they represent its primary political challenge.

Party leaders further stated that even if the 22nd Constitutional Amendment bill is passed in Parliament with a two-thirds majority, they will join forces with the public to defeat it should it be referred to a referendum.

They emphasised that strong political action will be taken in the future against government measures, including the arrest of Namal Rajapaksa.
