The Maligakanda Magistrate's Court remanded two National Hospital employees arrested with narcotics until the 16th of this month.
The arrests occurred near the morgue of the Emergency Unit at the National Hospital following information received by the Maradana Police.
The suspects, aged 34 and 37, are residents of the Mahiyanganaya and Polonnaruwa areas.
The arrest took place while they had drugs obtained from the Borella - Wanathamulla area for sale, with one identified as a morgue employee.
Investigations revealed that they sold drugs to hospital staff and outsiders for a prolonged period.
A judicial medical examination also revealed that both suspects are severely addicted to drugs.
Steps will be taken to suspend the two employees, National Hospital Director Dr. Sampath Indika Kumara stated upon inquiry.
