A principal in the Galle area was arrested in connection with an incident involving the receipt of Rs. 250,000 as a bribe to admit two children to a school.
The suspect principal reportedly requested Rs. 600,000, demanding Rs. 300,000 per child.
The amount was later reduced to Rs. 300,000.
Investigations revealed that steps were taken to admit one child to Grade 1 after receiving Rs. 150,000 of that sum as a bribe.
