Cabinet approves inaugural Presidential Road Safety Awards

Cabinet has approved a proposal to hold the inaugural 'Presidential Road Safety Awards 2026' at national level as a special project under the Road Safety Action Plan 2025–2026.

Submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, the initiative aims to recognise individuals, state and private institutions, and organisations making outstanding contributions to road safety. The event also seeks to direct social attention toward road safety, promote responsible behaviour, and increase public participation.

Selected winners will receive merit awards and Presidential awards. Building on the results of this year's inaugural ceremony, the government plans to host the event annually to coincide with the International Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on the third Sunday of November.
