Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath will undertake an official visit to Thailand from 14 to 16 September 2026, at the invitation of the Minister of Labour of Thailand.
During the visit, Minister Herath will hold discussions with Thailand's Minister of Labour, Minister of Tourism, and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, focusing on further advancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two sides will further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of labour through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Labour Cooperation and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on the Employment of Sri Lankan Workers in Thailand.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit will provide an opportunity to advance practical cooperation in tourism and employment, migration and labour mobility, strengthen people-to-people links, and enhance bilateral economic engagement between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
