Department of Meteorology issues severe lightning advisory

The Department of Meteorology issued an advisory on severe lightning.

According to the department, there is a possibility of severe lightning accompanied by thundershowers in several areas of the Eastern, Uva, North Central, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the districts of Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Kurunegala, during the evening or night.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall of around 100 millimetres is expected in some areas of the North Central, Central, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces.
