Foundation stones to be laid for four hospital projects worth over seven billion rupees

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will preside over the foundation stone-laying ceremonies for four major hospital development projects worth seven billion one hundred and forty-eight million rupees on 16th of September.

The initiative aims to expand specialised healthcare services across the Northern, North Central, and Eastern provinces using loan assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency and grant funding from the Government of India.

Under the Japanese loan scheme, eight-storey cardiac care complexes will be built at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital at a cost of three billion five hundred and forty-five million rupees, and at the Trincomalee District General Hospital costing two billion four hundred and three million rupees.

These facilities will feature intensive and coronary care units, catheterisation laboratories, clinics, wards, X-ray and ECG units, as well as libraries and auditoriums.

Chief Representative of JICA Sri Lanka Shigeo Honzu and Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Akio Isomata will attend the event.

Meanwhile, a total of one billion two hundred million rupees in Indian grant assistance will finance an ultramodern emergency, accident, and critical care complex costing six hundred million rupees at the Mannar District General Hospital, alongside a six hundred million rupee, four-storey ward complex at the Mullaittivu District General Hospital to relieve overcrowding.

Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha is also scheduled to attend the ceremonies.
