Local domestic carrier DP Aviation intends to rebrand as OCERA Airlines while broadening its scope toward international flights to enhance Sri Lankan aviation links across regional markets.
Discussions regarding the proposed transition recently took place between company representatives, an investment partner, and Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka Director General and Chief Executive Officer Captain Daminda Rambukwella alongside senior officials.
Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport is designated as the primary regional hub for scheduled domestic and international operations.
Network proposals feature enhanced routes connecting Jaffna with India alongside expanded pathways stretching across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Fleet development strategies involve introducing new Airbus A220 aircraft to scale the total fleet size to ten airframes by the year 2030.
Approximately 400 new jobs will emerge within flight operations, pilot positions, cabin crew services, engineering, and ground handling divisions.
Enhanced passenger connectivity aims to bridge domestic locations with international markets while solidifying travel routes between northern Sri Lanka and India.
Economic benefits will extend into tourism, trade, and investment sectors through increased employment generation and aviation activities.
Regulatory clearances and ongoing evaluations by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka remain mandatory before international flights can officially commence.
