US backs Sri Lanka’s digital transformation, port modernisation

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Eric Meyer has discussed new US support for Sri Lanka’s digital transformation, including cloud infrastructure and port modernisation, during a meeting with Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.

In a post on X, Ambassador Meyer said the discussions focused on opportunities ahead and support that could open new opportunities for American companies while strengthening the trade and security partnership between the two countries.

“From American technology and trade to maritime security and counternarcotics, we have a strong agenda for advancing the interests of both our countries,” Meyer said.

The discussions also covered potential areas of cooperation in cloud infrastructure and the modernisation of Sri Lanka’s ports, alongside broader technology and trade ties between the US and Sri Lanka.
