The Colombo Municipal Council has started auctioning 260 houses and shops which had not paid local taxes.
Majority of these houses and shops are located within the Fort and Pettah areas.
Municipality Treasurer K.D. Chitrapala said that the CMC would expect to collect revenue of 300 million rupees from the auctions.
