Ceylon Haurmet launches Sri Lanka’s first alcohol-free canned mojito production facility

Ceylon Haurmet (Pvt) Ltd. reached a new manufacturing milestone with the opening of its fully integrated canned beverage production facility in Pannala. The plant, engineered with the latest technology, spans 12,000 sq. ft. and strategically positions the company to compete in international markets.

The facility represents a significant step forward for Sri Lanka’s food and beverage industry, placing it among the few integrated canned beverage operations in the country offering both nitrogenation and carbonation technologies.

Ceylon Haurmet also announced the launch of Mooji, Sri Lanka’s first alcohol-free canned mojito range, which will be available in the market from December 2025.

The Pannala plant is part of the company’s Phase 1 expansion strategy and is geared for export-ready manufacturing. The new facility is expected to strengthen domestic supply while expanding capacity to compete in export-driven beverage markets.

With global demand for convenient ready-to-drink products continuing to rise, it offers local producers a pathway into higher-value segments that require consistent processing standards and advanced production methods.

The inauguration drew strong participation, including several government officials.

Chairman and Director of Ceylon Haurmet (Pvt) Ltd., Ruwan Nishantha, said the opening of the plant marks a milestone for both the company and the country.

He added that the facility underscores Sri Lanka’s industrial potential and demonstrates the nation’s capability to develop and operate manufacturing environments that meet international standards.

Chief Executive Officer and Director Sanjaya Dissanayake said, “We aim to develop products that meet global expectations while retaining the value of being produced locally. This manufacturing plant gives us a platform to expand responsibly, introduce new categories and strengthen our position in international markets.”
