Sri Lanka joins South Asian rollout of privacy-led ZKTOR platform

Sri Lanka has joined a wider South Asian rollout of ZKTOR, a privacy-focused Indian social media platform developed by Softa Technologies. The platform has crossed over 500,000 beta users across India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with strong uptake among Gen Z and young women.

The early response indicates that a regionally built platform can gain trust when designed around data safety, user protection and local relevance.

Founder Sunil Kumar Singh brings over two decades of exposure to Finland’s rights-focused design culture. He argues that privacy technologies already exist, but are rarely made default. ZKTOR is positioned as an ethical alternative to platforms where users navigate complex terms and data policies.

The platform is built as an all-in-one social media ecosystem for an era shaped by artificial intelligence, deepfakes and rising cyber risks. Its design includes zero-knowledge server architecture, no URL-based media sharing, no behavioural tracking and multi-layer encryption.

Singh has also declined foreign venture capital and external funding to maintain independence from institutional or political influence. The company follows a low-cost operational model aimed at efficiency and long-term sustainability.

ZKTOR’s broader ecosystem includes Subkuz for hyperlocal news and diaspora engagement, Ezowm for local commerce, and Hola AI as a safety and intelligence layer. A planned advertising network, ZHAN, aims to connect local businesses, creators and nearby audiences through transparent monetisation.

For Sri Lanka, the platform could open opportunities for youth in digital services, marketing, content creation and local campaigns tied to the ecosystem.

With planned expansion into Bhutan, Pakistan and the Maldives, ZKTOR is emerging as a regional test of India’s ability to build platforms tailored to South Asian needs.
