Ceylon Green Life Plantation (CGLP) has taken a major step in its international growth strategy with the launch of its first overseas agricultural venture in Malaysia, underscoring its commitment to modern, sustainable farming and global market expansion.
The company recently announced the commencement of a large-scale greenhouse cultivation project in Malaysia, which is expected to open new avenues for Sri Lankan agricultural expertise while strengthening regional agricultural cooperation. Supported by the Malaysian Government, the initial phase of the project will be implemented on a 50-acre land allocation.
The venture will employ advanced greenhouse technology, modern cultivation techniques and high-yield seed varieties to produce vegetables tailored to the requirements of the Malaysian market.
CGLP Founder and Chairman Dr. Malan Francis Peter said the initiative marks an important milestone in showcasing Sri Lankan agricultural knowledge and expertise on the global stage.
“This project provides access to advanced agricultural technologies, improved cultivation practices and a ready market for produce. It creates opportunities not only for our organisation but also for Sri Lankan farmers and agricultural professionals who can benefit from international exposure and knowledge transfer,” he said.
According to the company, the project is expected to generate sustainable commercial returns while contributing to food security and agricultural innovation. It will also serve as a platform for expansion into other regional markets in the future.
The official delegation that visited Malaysia included CGLP Group Director Human Resources Nimanthika Wickramasinghe, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Udara Kotalawala, Chief Operating Officer Kapila Kumara and members of the senior management team.
CGLP said the Malaysia venture aligns with its long-term vision of combining Sri Lankan agricultural expertise with global opportunities while creating value across the agricultural supply chain.
The company added that similar international collaborations could contribute significantly to foreign exchange earnings, agricultural technology transfer and the development of export-oriented farming initiatives, further strengthening Sri Lanka’s position in the global agricultural sector.
