Dialog honours Commonwealth Games medallists Rumesh Tharanga and Palitha Bandara

Dialog Axiata PLC has recognised Sri Lankan athletes Rumesh Tharanga and Palitha Bandara for their achievements at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The recognition took place during a public parade held on 5 August to celebrate Sri Lanka’s Commonwealth Games athletes.

The two medallists visited the Dialog Axiata head office, where Dialog Axiata PLC Director and Group Chief Executive Supun Weerasinghe presented them with commemorative gifts.

Rumesh Tharanga became the first Sri Lankan track and field athlete to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal, while Palitha Bandara secured a silver medal in para-athletics.

Dialog, which serves as the Official Telecommunications Partner of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, said it continues to support Sri Lankan athletes and the development of sports, including para sports.

The company said it has supported para sports in Sri Lanka for 26 years and continues to assist athletes in their efforts to compete at the highest level.
