Screenline secures ISO 9001:2015 certification for Kandy facility

Sri Lanka’s Screenline (Private) Limited has secured ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Kandy manufacturing facility, strengthening its quality management systems and alignment with international standards increasingly required across global apparel supply chains.

Located at Kandy Industrial Park, BOI Kengalla, the facility has been certified by SGS United Kingdom Ltd for its management system covering the manufacture of heat-seal labels and graphics and the provision of thermal pressing services.

The certification further strengthens Screenline’s position as a Sri Lankan manufacturer of heat-seal and thermal-transfer solutions serving international apparel markets, where global buyers are placing greater emphasis on quality consistency, traceability, product safety, environmental accountability and internationally recognised production standards.

Screenline Managing Director Nishantha Bakmeege said the certification represented an important step in strengthening the company’s manufacturing systems and international competitiveness.

“ISO 9001:2015 certification is an important recognition of the systems, processes and quality discipline we have built into our Kandy manufacturing operation.”

“For us, this is not simply about obtaining an international certification; it is about creating greater consistency, strengthening customer confidence and ensuring that our manufacturing capabilities continue to meet the expectations of global apparel supply chains.”

“As we expand our presence in international markets, maintaining recognised standards in quality, product safety and responsible manufacturing will remain central to our business strategy,” Bakmeege said.

Screenline’s heat-seal products are currently supplied to Mexico, Ghana, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Pakistan, connecting its Sri Lankan manufacturing capabilities with customers across diverse apparel markets. The Kandy facility forms an important part of this expanding capability, with ISO certification reinforcing its focus on consistent quality and international customer expectations.

The achievement also highlights the importance of standards-led manufacturing as Sri Lankan exporters seek stronger positions within global value chains. Internationally recognised quality management systems can support market access, buyer confidence and competition based on quality, reliability and compliance rather than cost alone.

Screenline’s commitment extends beyond ISO 9001:2015. The company also holds OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification for printed and heat-transfer applications, including heat seals and thermal transfers, under Product Class I – baby articles, reflecting stringent requirements for particularly sensitive uses.

Screenline has also undertaken Greenhouse Gas verification for its thermal-transfer operations, demonstrating its focus on measuring and addressing environmental impacts. Together, these initiatives reflect three increasingly important dimensions of modern export manufacturing: quality management, product safety and environmental accountability.
