American singer, musician and author Belinda Carlisle celebrates her birthday today!
Carlisle who was born on the 17th of August 1958 gained worldwide fame as the lead singer of the Go-Go's, one of the most successful all-female bands in history, and went on to have a prolific career as a solo artist.
Carlisle went on to have a successful solo career with radio hits such as "Circle in the Sand", "Leave a Light On" and "Heaven Is a Place on Earth", among others.
Recently, Carlisle said that she is amazed that she is still alive and well at the age of 61, given the fact that she was at one point addicted to cocaine.
She added that by the grace of God, and much persuasion on her part, she was able to overcome the addiction, and live a healthy life.
