Sam Fender and Olivia Dean are making U.K. chart history.
Their collaborative single, “Rein Me In,” has officially become the country’s longest-running No. 1 single of all time. With 19 weeks at the top of the U.K. Official Singles chart, it has officially surpassed the record set by Frankie Laine’s “I Believe,” which held the spot for 18 weeks back in 1953.
But this isn’t the first record the duet has broken. Released over a year ago on June 20, 2025, “Rein Me In” took 35 weeks from its first entry onto the chart to reach No. 1, making it the song with the longest climb to the top. Since it hit that spot in February, “Rein Me In” has also become Fender’s first U.K. No. 1 single and the only single in U.K. chart history that has bumped back to No. 1 four times in the same run.
“This is a historic achievement,” said Ben Mortimer, president of Polydor Label Group, where Fender is signed. “The accolades have continued to grow throughout this incredible journey, but to surpass a benchmark set by the great Frankie Laine more than 70 years ago is almost unimaginable. Seeing Sam and Olivia, two homegrown stars, break the record is something we’re so proud of.”
Added Jo Charrington, the president of Capitol U.K., where Dean is signed: “There is something completely undeniable about Sam and Olivia together on this record. They created a song that people have continued to return to week after week. To see that connection translate into the longest No.1 run in the history of the U.K. chart is a landmark achievement.”
