Will Young will replace Kane Williamson in the New Zealand squad for the remaining two Tests against England.
Williamson, New Zealand's all-time leading Test run-scorer, retired on Friday following the 115-run defeat in the first Test at Lord's.
Young, who averages 31.97 in 23 Tests, will arrive in England on Sunday, before the second Test at The Oval starts on Wednesday.
Young has played four Tests in England, scoring 223 runs at 27.87 in eight innings, including two half-centuries.
He has played only three of New Zealand's seven Tests in the past year.
The third and final match of the series at Trent Bridge begins on 25 June.
