63,000 rupees emerge from a king coconut tree in Kalpitiya

Kalpitiya police have arrested an Island’s registered criminal over a theft of Rs. 97,000 from a shop.

Police arrested the suspect following a complaint made by the shop owner.

During the interrogation, the suspect revealed that Rs. 63,000 has been hidden on top of a king coconut tree near his boarding house on Hospital Road Kalpitiya.

Police recovered the money accordingly.

The suspect will be produced before Puttalam Magistrate today.
