Shammi Silva was elected as the new president of Sri Lanka Cricket with a majority 27 votes.
the election held at the Duncan White Auditorium earlier today,
Shammi Silva obtained 83 votes while Jayantha Dharmadasa only secured 56 votes.
Meanwhile, Mohan de Silva who contested against Nishantha Ranatunga for the post of secretary.
He obtained 96 votes.
Nishantha Ranatunga was able to secure 45 votes.
Minister Arjuna Ranatunga who contested for the Vice president post obtained 72 votes, however Raveen Wickramarathna and K Mathivaanan secured 82 and 80 votes respectively, both being appointed as vice presidents.
SLC had 142 members representing provincial, district, administration and affiliated sports clubs who were qualified to cast their votes in the election this year.
