A garbage problem for Colombo again

The ministry of megapolis and western development has noted that as the mayoress of the Colombo municipal council, Rosy Senanayake had criticized the Aruwakkaru project, accepting of garbage to the site has been temporally halted.

In an interview with an English newspaper, she had noted that the project is merely unsuccessful, and is a project that has no delivered its promises.

The secretary to the ministry of megapolis and western development Nihal Rupasinghe, directing a letter to the commissioner of the Colombo municipal council yesterday had noted that she had also mentioned about certain ministers had obtained bribes by showing the project.

Through the letter directed he had added that optimum effort has been made to recycle garbage which is being collected in the Colombo city limits while adhering to environmental rules and regulations.

The secretary had further noted that at an instance where there was no area to dispose garbage in Colombo, measures were taken to dispose garbage in the Aruwakkaru sanitary garbage recycling site while it was partially constructed.

In circumstances as such, the ministerial secretary had added that through the statement made by the mayor, it appears that she has a better solution to the garbage disposal issue in the municipal council.

Accordingly, the secretary to the ministry Nihal Rupasinghe concluded the communique noting that the Aruwakkalu garbage recycling site which is implemented by the ministry of megapolis of western development will not be accepting garbage from the Colombo municipal council from today onwards.
