Teachers' online strike continues (Video)

The trade union action which was initiated by 14 teachers' unions based on several demands continued for the seventh consecutive day today.

The teachers' unions stated that their strike will continue despite the release of members of the trade unions who were arrested and quarantined during a protest against the Kotelawala Defence University Bill.

In the past few days, teachers' unions have intensified their trade union action and organized protests in various parts of the country, alleging trade union leaders of being illegally detained on charges of violating quarantine laws.

Due to the trade union action by the teachers, the academic activities of students facing the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) this year have been disrupted as well.

However, several teachers were observed taking part in academic activities online, without partaking in the trade union action.

The Buddhist monks of the Sunandarama Purana Viharaya in Karapitiya had taken steps to conduct the Pagnanadhara Dhamma School online today (18).
