Veteran actor W. Jayasiri has passed away at the age of 77. Jayasiri made significant contributions to the arts in Sri Lanka, excelling in acting, direction, and songwriting.
His career began in the early 1970s when he recorded his first song. From 1973 onwards, he was involved in films such as Dahakin Ekek, Diyamanthi, Eya dan loku lamayek, Bambaru Avith, Selima, Chitti, and Ayoma.
Jayasiri also appeared in popular TV dramas like Koombio and Ran Damvel. Additionally, he composed notable songs, including Dumbara Hinahena and Adaraya Oba Obamai from the film Bambaru Haadhi. His passing marks the loss of a beloved figure in Sri Lankan arts.
