Southern Province Governor Bandula Harischandra passed away this morning (15) at the Colombo National Hospital.
He was 62 years old at the time of his death.
Harischandra was a distinguished public servant who held numerous high-ranking positions, including District Secretary for Galle, Matara, Hambantota, and Vavuniya and Secretary to the Ministry of Buddha Sasana.
He was also a father of two and held a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Kelaniya.
Prior to his passing, he had also briefly served as the Acting Governor of the Western Province.
His remains are scheduled to be placed at the Jayaratne Funeral Parlour today and will be taken to the Governor's official residence in Galle tomorrow.
