Police Headquarters announced today, Saturday, January 31, 2026, that five Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and one Superintendent of Police (SP) have been transferred with immediate effect. The decision, approved by the National Police Commission (NPC), was finalized under the signature of IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya and came into force yesterday, January 30.
SSP K.A. Udaya Kumara: Formerly the Director of the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit, he has been appointed as the Division-in-Charge of Kalutara.
SSP E.L. Perera: Transferred from Gampola to take over as the Division-in-Charge of Colombo North.
SSP B.A.R. Pushpa Kumara: Moved from his role in Colombo North to serve as the Director of the Special Airport Police Division.
SSP W.M.S.B. Wickramasinghe: Reassigned from Police Headquarters to serve as the Division-in-Charge of Monaragala.
SSP K.N. Gunawardena: Transferred from Monaragala and attached to Police Headquarters.
SP C.D. Ilangakoon: Formerly of the Kandy Division, he has been appointed as the Division-in-Charge of Gampola.
Additionally, ASP Rohan Olugala, who previously served as the Director of the Western Province North Crimes Division, has been appointed as the new Director of the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit, filling the vacancy left by SSP Udaya Kumara.
