The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) led joint opposition secured a majority in the committee election of the Dikwella Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society held today (31).
At the regional level, the SJB-led opposition obtained 35 votes, while the National People’s Power (NPP) secured 19 votes.
According to reports, the opposition coalition also claimed 70 out of the 98 general assembly seats.
The National People's Power managed to secure only 28 representatives in the final count.
