Uva revenue hits record Rs 4bn in 2025

Overall revenue for the Uva Provincial Council in 2025 reached a record level of 4 billion rupees, exceeding expected targets, according to Uva Province Deputy Chief Secretary (Finance) B.L. Kularatne.

The Deputy Chief Secretary revealed this information during a press conference held yesterday (17) at the Uva Provincial Council auditorium, chaired by Provincial Chief Secretary Anusha Gokula Fernando.

He pointed out that the council's total revenue grew to 4 billion rupees by the end of 2025, rising from 3.3 billion rupees in 2024.

He mentioned that this achievement was secured through proper management and commitment despite facing dual disaster situations.

The success is directly attributed to the identification of new revenue sources, the implementation of a systematic program to recover arrears, and the dedication of officials.

Plans are already in place to move toward higher revenue targets for 2026 by identifying further income streams.

He added that the council hopes to encourage public engagement in revenue growth and strengthen the province's financial position by maximizing existing resources.

The Deputy Chief Secretary also expressed gratitude for the support received from Uva Provincial Governor Kapila Jayasekera, the Chief Secretary, state officials, and the political authority throughout this process.
